Choosing the perfect clothing
A smart appearance is essential to create a professional, business like image. Using branded clothing immediately makes staff visible and makes it easier for visitors to instantly identify the people to approach on a stand.
British weather can be very unreliable. Provide layered clothing since this makes it easier for staff to adjust to the varying temperatures throughout the day. A branded fleece is ideal for those cooler mornings and can be easily removed during the heat of the day leaving a branded T-shirt visible.
Wear sensible, comfortable footwear. You will be on your feet for a long time, and it can get very tiring. It’s not easy giving a confident sales pitch when your feet are aching, or you cannot feel your toes because you are cold. Hire trained promotional and display staff who can help on the stand and roam around the site capturing attention.
Research your location carefully
Check exactly where your exhibition stand is located
Is it totally open with no shelter at all? This can be very risky if the weather turns hot or wet.
What is the landscape like? If your stand is pitched on an incline, then you could find promotional material falling off or having to be chased around the showground. Are you under a tree? This can provide useful additional shelter in heat or rain, but equally if there is a sudden storm then there is always the risk of twigs and branches being blown off.
Is the stand on a main route or is it in an area where there is little passing trade? This can determine just how many people you have coming near your stand and how much business you can do. Think also about where the stand is in relation to other similar products – a food stand can attract a lot of attention in or near the main food area, but is less likely to get buyers if situated in a quiet area with little passing trade.
Be spectacular
Visibility is essential. People need to identify your stand from a distance. Think about height and colour. If you are in an outside location, there are far fewer restrictions on height and design. Flags and banners, especially in bright colours or corporate colours with your logo instantly scream ‘here I am’. Add in matching coloured tables, chairs, inflatable arches or display stands.
