You have only a few seconds to make that initial contact before people walk on by.
No matter what the size of your stand, if you have the right approach then people will be more willing to talk.
Having the biggest, flashiest stand doesn’t always guarantee that you can capture that initial interest. A stand that is not well staffed, looks untidy and has staff standing around chatting among themselves ignoring visitors is not attractive.
Be Time Conscious
Exhibition visitors don’t have a lot of spare time. They want to cover as many stands as possible during their visit, picking up trends, market information and placing orders.
First Impressions count
You have just one opportunity to capture the attention of a visitor. Visitors won’t stay around if there is no one ready to answer queries. They have lots of other stands to visit – and will not return.
Whatever the time of day, from early morning to the last hours of the exhibition, your staff need to be focused, approachable and ready to communicate. The presence of smiling, friendly staff who are ready to talk to visitors, pass out literature and samples, and deal with queries are essential to make an instant good impression.
Make sure you have the best promotional staff to maximise every opportunity to engage with anyone passing your stand.
Stand Design
Even small booths of just 3m x 2m can stand out if you use eye-catching graphics and imagery. Think about installing photo flooring, or using interactive features. Backlit panel graphics enable you to utilise wall space, and high level banners help make your stand visible to people glancing up and down an aisle.
Add in some demonstrators to bring your product or service alive.
Pleasant Environment
A cramped, untidy stand is off putting. Make sure that bags and coats belonging to members of staff are carefully stored away out of sight. It makes it more secure for staff possessions, and also provides some way of keeping surplus merchandise safely.
Careful placing of furniture can make even the smallest stand feel larger than it is. A lockable showcase can easily double as storage and a desk.
